IPhone 17 Pro Teardown Video Reveals Easier Repairability

The iPhone 17 Pro could be Apple’s most repair-friendly Pro model to date.

Apple’s newly launched iPhone 17 Pro stands out from its earlier versions, thanks to its fresh camera plateau and revamped design. A recent teardown video, however, uncovers that this model is the most repairable Pro iPhone the company has released so far.

iPhone 17 Pro sports a modular and easy-to-fix internal design

In an in-depth teardown, YouTuber JerryRigEverything demonstrated the updated internal structure of the phone, which has been optimized for simpler repairs. According to the teardown, Apple has implemented several internal engineering updates.

To begin with, the front and rear glass panels are now secured using screws instead of strong adhesive. This allows both panels to be opened through the same bottom screw mounts, minimizing the chances of damage during screen or back glass replacements—which are often the most expensive repairs.

Apple’s iPhone 17 series also introduces a vapour chamber cooling system, smartly integrated within the internal layout. The battery now sits in an easily removable tray, and notably, Apple has avoided using those tough adhesive strips that made removal difficult in previous models.

That being said, the teardown also revealed that the USB-C port remains tricky to repair, as it requires removing the display and unscrewing more than 20 screws for access.

Even though Apple hasn’t officially commented on these updates, the internal redesign highlights the company’s growing acknowledgment of Right to Repair initiatives and compliance with upcoming EU repair regulations.

Overall, the iPhone 17 Pro successfully combines top-tier performance, luxurious design, and improved repairability, making it a significant upgrade in Apple’s flagship lineup.
