After weeks of rumors, Xiaomi has officially announced the launch date for its upcoming Xiaomi 17 series. The company confirmed the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max for China via Weibo.
The Xiaomi 17 series will debut on September 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM CST (5:30 AM IST). The launch will take place during the Lei Jun Annual Speech event, where Xiaomi’s founder and CEO will unveil the new flagship lineup.
First Look at Xiaomi 17 Design
The announcement banner also offers a first glimpse of the Xiaomi 17, showcased in a light blue finish. The phone maintains a flat, compact footprint with rounded edges and a frosted back panel, setting it apart from the Xiaomi 15.
While the Xiaomi 15 featured a continuous squircle camera setup at the top, the Xiaomi 17 adopts a more lens-focused design. It still retains the squircle camera island, but now each lens protrudes slightly and is encircled by its own ring, giving it a look similar to the 2024 Xiaomi 14T.
Other than design details, little is known about the compact Xiaomi 17 so far. The Xiaomi 17 series is expected to be the first flagship lineup to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
All models are rumored to include 1.5K 120 Hz LTPO OLED displays, 7,000+mAh batteries, and 100W fast USB-C charging. Xiaomi is also bringing Leica-branded cameras to the entire series. While specific details about the Xiaomi 17 remain limited, leaks from the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max suggest a 50 MP main + 50 MP telephoto + 50 MP ultrawide setup, with the Pro Max’s telephoto lens likely featuring a wider aperture
For the Pro models, Xiaomi is introducing a Magic Black secondary display integrated into the edge-to-edge camera area on both the Xiaomi 17 Pro and the new Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Previously teased for the Pro model, this secondary screen is designed to handle multiple functions, including displaying clock faces, acting as a selfie viewfinder, showing incoming calls and messages, providing quick navigation, and more.
With the Xiaomi 17 series launch only three days away, official specifications and pricing for China will soon be revealed. It will also be intriguing to see how Xiaomi positions the series in India and what additional features the brand has planned for the lineup.
