It’s only been a week since Apple launched the iPhone 17 lineup, but fresh reports are already emerging about the company’s first foldable iPhone. Leaks now hint at what the device could look like, its possible price point, and when it might make its debut.
iPhone Fold Could Take Inspiration from the iPhone Air
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared new insights into Apple’s foldable project, suggesting that the iPhone Fold may borrow design cues from the iPhone Air. According to him, “users should picture two titanium iPhone Air models placed side by side,” hinting at an ultra-thin profile and a significant design milestone for Apple.

This new information helps put to rest earlier speculation that Apple’s foldable iPhone would end up being thick and bulky. Instead, it’s expected to rival Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 — currently the slimmest foldable at just 4.2mm when unfolded. Apple is also said to be using a titanium frame, which makes sense given that durability will be one of the most crucial aspects of the foldable design.
Gurman further noted that at least a portion of the iPhone Fold’s production could still take place in China, despite recent reports suggesting Apple would shift manufacturing to India. It’s possible that while assembly might expand to India, certain complex components may continue to be sourced from China.
As for pricing, Gurman predicts the iPhone Fold could start around $2,000. If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, the device is likely to debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup in fall next year.
