OnePlus is already preparing its next flagship, the OnePlus 15, which is expected to launch in early 2026. Ahead of the release, OnePlus President Li Jie Louis shared an intriguing detail about the device’s display.
Posting on Weibo, he stated that the “upcoming OnePlus products will usher in the next era” with ultra-high refresh rates. He also claimed that OnePlus plans to set a new industry standard for refresh rates, anticipating that other brands will follow their lead.

Although Louis did not explicitly name the device, early reports suggest that the OnePlus 15 will be the first to feature this ultra-high refresh rate. A few weeks ago, leaker Digital Chat Station claimed that the OnePlus 15 would offer a 165 Hz refresh rate, and the recent statement from the OnePlus President appears to confirm this.
If accurate, the OnePlus 15 will be the brand’s first smartphone to reach 165 Hz, surpassing the previous generation OnePlus 13, which is limited to a 120 Hz refresh rate.

The higher refresh rate is expected to enhance the OnePlus 15 with smoother gaming, scrolling, and animations, elevating the overall Oxygen OS 16 experience. This upgrade could make interactions feel more fluid and responsive.
In terms of hardware, the smartphone is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (also called Snapdragon 8 Elite 2) processor and a 1.5K OLED display. It is also expected to boost battery performance with a 7,000mAh unit, 120W fast USB-C charging, and support for 50W wireless charging.

Additionally, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will debut the brand’s new DetailMax Engine for its cameras, marking the end of its five-year collaboration with Hasselblad. A standout feature of this engine is its ability to produce high-quality zoom shots using computational photography.
The introduction of the DetailMax Engine may explain the shift to a square matrix rear camera design on the OnePlus 15. The smartphone is expected to launch in the final months of 2025, with more official details likely to be revealed soon.
