Nothing has begun teasing its upcoming Nothing OS 4.0 update, showcasing fresh vector icons and hinting at new features. The company recently started testing the build on the Nothing Phone (3), and the latest teaser suggests that the next version of Nothing OS might be launching soon.
On its official X account, the brand confirmed that Nothing OS 4.0 is on the way, using the tagline “Refined. Redefined.” This indicates that the update will likely focus on both performance improvements and feature upgrades.
The teaser video shared by Nothing doesn’t give away much, but it does reveal some interesting details. A new numerical font is shown, which could mean additional lock screen clock styles and customization options are on the way. The clip also highlights the Essential Space and Recorder logos, suggesting that these tools may receive notable upgrades.
Other icons spotted include an umbrella, a fan-like turbine (possibly hinting at a gaming mode), a dark mode symbol, a check mark, and a toggle. However, the most intriguing element is the appearance of a safety balloon or ship airbag icon, which could represent a new security or protection feature.

It’s still unclear what Nothing has planned behind the scenes, though the teaser caption suggests the upcoming release will focus more on refinements rather than being loaded with entirely new features.
That said, Android 16 elements such as Advanced Protection Mode and Search in Photo Picker are expected to be included. In addition, Nothing CEO Carl Pei has already confirmed that Android 16’s Live Updates feature will be integrated into the Glyph Matrix of the Nothing Phone (3).
The rollout for Nothing OS 4.0 is scheduled for Q3 2025, with all eligible devices likely to receive the update during that period. While an exact release date has not been revealed, the rollout is expected to begin with the Nothing Phone (3), followed by the Phone (3a) series and the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
