Although the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is still a few months away, leaks and rumors continue to surface. The latest one offers a sneak peek at the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rumored rear camera setup.
According to tipster Ice Universe on X, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to come equipped with a new 12MP telephoto camera. This lens is said to support 3x zoom with an f/2.4 aperture. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 Ultra housed a 10MP 3x telephoto unit, meaning the upcoming Ultra gains a modest bump of 2MP in resolution.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera system appears mostly unchanged, save for the telephoto lens upgrade. The device is still expected to house a 200MP main sensor with an f/1.4 aperture, just like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, along with a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP periscope camera carried over from the previous model.
That said, while the megapixel counts remain the same, Samsung may be swapping out some of the actual sensors. For example, leaker Roland Quandt suggested that the upcoming 12MP telephoto camera could use a new “SK53LD” sensor. Although its exact details aren’t confirmed, tipster Ice Universe has claimed this is indeed a brand-new sensor.

It’s still unclear whether the other sensors will see similar updates. On the hardware front, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to feature a 5,000mAh battery with support for 60W fast USB-C charging, powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5).
Samsung is also said to be slightly increasing the display size, with the Ultra model expected to sport a 6.89-inch screen compared to the 6.86-inch panel on the S25 Ultra. The boxy silhouette will likely return, but early prototypes suggest the S26 Ultra may adopt subtly more rounded corners for a refined look.
With the Galaxy S26 Ultra expected to debut in early January 2026, we can expect more details and leaks to surface in the coming months.
