Sony has officially launched its mid-gen refresh of the PS5 globally, but it appears the product isn’t as widespread as expected. According to a statement from Sony, the PS5 Pro will not be available in several countries, with India being one of the nations excluded.
First revealed in September, the PS5 Pro quickly became a hot topic in the gaming world. From its $699.99 price tag to the 10% performance improvement, the console generated plenty of buzz.
However, the absence of the PS5 Pro in India is due to an unfortunate circumstance. According to a statement from Sony, the console will not be available in certain countries, including India, because the 6GHz wireless band used in IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) has not been approved in these regions.
This means that Indian gamers, who were excited to experience the enhanced PS5 Pro games, will now have to wait longer. While Sony has yet to confirm its plans to release the Pro console in India, it’s clear that fans will be disappointed. Despite the PS5 Pro’s relatively modest upgrades, it has shown significant performance improvements, as demonstrated in recent tests.
Sony India has already introduced the PS5 Slim in the country, which saw major discounts during the summer. However, it’s likely that the PlayStation Pro would have been priced higher in India compared to its global release. Regardless of the situation, for now, if you’re in one of the countries where the PS5 Pro hasn’t been launched, there’s no opportunity to get your hands on the console just yet.
