The PS5 Pro now features a significantly larger GPU, delivering 45% more rendering power for gameplay. This boost comes from a 67% increase in Compute Units and a 28% expansion in memory, which naturally enhances the gaming experience.

During the technical presentation, it was emphasized that gamers will benefit from higher visual fidelity and smoother frame rates with the PS5 Pro. Although 120 FPS wasn’t specifically mentioned, it’s expected that the existing 60 FPS will now deliver a noticeably improved performance.

Complementing these upgrades is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s AI upscaling technology. This feature leverages machine learning to provide sharper image quality and improved detail. Cerny demonstrated this by comparing games on both the new PS5 Pro and the original PS5.

Lastly, the PS5 Pro offers improved Ray Tracing, allowing for more dynamic reflections and light refractions. The upgraded system can cast rays at up to three times the speed of the original PS5. Games optimized for the PS5 Pro will feature a special enhanced logo on their packaging.

PS5 Pro Price and Release Date

The PS5 Pro is priced at $699.99, £699.99, €799.99, and ¥119,980. The official launch is scheduled for November 7, with pre-orders opening on September 26. The console will include a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and Astro’s Playroom pre-installed.
