Jio has been steadily expanding its presence across various sectors over the years. Although they’ve achieved success in many areas, digital entertainment has been one sector where they’ve lagged. However, this might be about to change, as the telecom operator recently unveiled their new TV platform, JioTV OS, along with Jio TV+. Here’s everything you should know about it.
JioTV OS
Introducing JioTV OS, a fully homegrown operating system crafted to provide a faster, smoother, and more personalized user experience. It supports Ultra HD 4K videos playback, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, ensuring cinematic quality when watching content on your TV.
In addition, JioTV OS consolidates all your favorite OTT apps, shows, and Live TV into a single platform, offering a truly seamless experience. It also features the Jio Voice Assistant, powered by Advanced Generative AI technology, enabling you to control the set-top box, play content, or search for movies with simple voice commands, making your viewing experience completely hands-free and hassle-free.
Jio TV+
Jio also introduced enhancements to Jio TV+, which will now offer an even more unified experience by bringing together live TV, shows, and apps under one platform. Users can browse over 860 live TV channels from popular apps like Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar. The highlight is the improved channel-switching speed, ensuring you can quickly navigate between channels without missing your favorite content.
The standout feature of JioTV OS is its advanced recommendation engine, which suggests content based on your viewing habits and preferences. Additionally, the new Catch-up feature allows you to go back up to seven days and watch shows you may have missed. Another useful addition is the Play-Pause feature, enabling you to pause live TV perfect for those intense cricket matches.
Speaking of cricket, users can now access live cricket stats during matches, purchase tickets, and even switch between camera angles, all from the comfort of their homes. JioTV OS also introduces a social feature, allowing you to watch shows or movies with friends in a watch party setting, chatting about them in real time for a truly interactive experience.
These updates are set to enhance the content-watching experience with Jio services and could shift how audiences view the platform. Given the rapid growth of the OTT and digital entertainment market since the pandemic, it’s clear why the telecom operator is keen to establish a strong presence in this sector.
