Google has officially launched the Gemini app in India, now supporting 9 Indian languages alongside English: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Users can chat, upload images for AI analysis, engage in voice chat, and receive assistance in their preferred regional languages.
Additionally, Google is introducing new capabilities of Gemini Advanced in India. Subscribers to the paid plan can now upload various file formats like PDF, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, CSV, TXT, RTF, DOTX, and TSV for data analysis, leveraging the Gemini 1.5 Pro model.
Moreover, Google Messages users in India can access Gemini directly within the app, enabling seamless chatting, message crafting, event planning, and more, although currently limited to English.
Beyond India, the Gemini app is set to launch in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, and Sri Lanka. Note that installing the Gemini app will replace Google Assistant on Android devices/ios. This rollout empowers Indian users with the multimodal Gemini model tailored for diverse linguistic preferences.
