Today was a big day for Apple! The Cupertino tech giant has officially launched its highly anticipated iPhone 16 series. In addition to the new iPhones, we also received the release date for iOS 18, which was initially previewed at WWDC in June 2024. The new iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia come with a host of AI features collectively known as Apple Intelligence. This suite includes the long-awaited contextual Siri upgrade, OS-wide AI writing tools, Genmoji, an AI image playground, and much more.
However, these new AI features will be available only on select Apple devices. To find out if your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is compatible with Apple Intelligence, check out the list of supported devices below.
Apple Intelligence Compatibility List
Apple Intelligence leverages on-device processing to handle your queries and ensure privacy while using AI features on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s important to note that only devices equipped with M-series processors, the A17 Pro, or the latest A18 chipset possess the computational power required for these features.
Therefore, all Apple devices with the aforementioned Apple Silicon will support the new AI capabilities. Here is the complete list of devices that will be compatible with Apple Intelligence features:

Are Apple Intelligence Features Paid or Free?
Apple Intelligence is available at no additional cost for users of all supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac models. To use these AI features, you’ll need to set Siri and your device language to U.S. English initially. You’ll also need to update to the latest versions of macOS Sequoia, iPadOS 18, and iOS 18.
During the iPhone 16 launch event, Apple also announced the release date for Apple Intelligence.
Apple’s restraint was evident at both WWDC 2024 and today’s iPhone launch event. While their new suite, Apple Intelligence, is a clever nod to the AI buzzword, it was only mentioned once by Craig Federighi during the announcement. Apple opts for ‘Apple Intelligence’ instead of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to make it feel more personal and brand-specific, knowing full well it will be referred to as AI by users.
