Following a leak earlier last month, we finally have an official first look at “DOOM: The Dark Ages.” As unveiled at the Xbox Showcase Games 2024, our beloved Doomslayer returns, this time adorned with a fur cape and wielding a shield to combat demonic forces. Unlike the Earth setting of “Doom Eternal,” this installment immerses players in an entirely medieval world.
The first trailer suggests that the game takes place during the Doomslayer’s time as a Sentinel, a warrior for the Deags. A highlight is the introduction of a new weapon: a throwable shield with an attached sawblade, capable of shooting skull pieces by crushing them. The iconic shotgun also makes a return.
But there’s more. The game enhances the glory kill system, now allowing players to kick their enemies. “DOOM: The Dark Ages” also introduces a mecha for battling giants and a flying monster that players can ride.
Prepare to step into a medieval realm where darkness reigns and only the fiercest warriors survive.

Although no official release date has been announced for “DOOM: The Dark Ages,” the game is slated to launch in 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Game Pass. It’s still unclear whether it will be included in Xbox Game Pass Core. Share your thoughts on this highly anticipated title in the comments below!
