Qualcomm Unveiled Snapdragon Dev Kit for Windows with X Elite Chip

Microsoft has taken a significant step towards Windows on ARM by introducing Copilot Plus PCs during their recent Surface event. Additionally, Qualcomm unveiled its own Snapdragon Dev Kit, featuring the high-end X Elite processor, at the Microsoft Build event. Here’s what you need to know:

The Snapdragon Dev Kit’s processor, a special edition X Elite chip, boasts a 12-core 3.8GHz Oryon CPU with a Dual Core Boost reaching up to 4.3GHz. It will run Windows 11, supported by 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of fast NVMe storage. The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, offering up to 45 TOPS, is designed to help developers harness AI capabilities and create powerful AI applications.

The I/O on the Snapdragon Dev Kit includes 3 USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, 1 Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. For connectivity, it features Qualcomm’s FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System, supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The device weighs just 970 grams, measures 199 mm x 175 mm x 35 mm, and is powered by a 180W AC adapter.

This isn’t Qualcomm’s first foray into launching a Snapdragon Dev Kit; they previously introduced similar kits with the Snapdragon 8cx and 7cx platforms. For those unfamiliar, dev kits are designed for developers to push the hardware to its limits and test their applications.

The kit is available for pre-order at $899 through this contact form. Shipping begins on June 18, coinciding with the release of the first batch of Copilot Plus PCs.
