All Nothing Earbuds to Receive ChatGPT Integration, with a Catch

In April, Nothing introduced two new audio accessories: the Nothing Ear and Ear (a). What set these earbuds apart was their integration with ChatGPT, making Nothing the pioneer in this regard. The brand has now announced that this integration will extend to all its audio products on May 21. However, there’s a catch.

The brand provided a comprehensive list of all its earbuds slated to receive the ChatGPT integration. Here’s a brief overview:

  • Nothing Ear (1)
  • Nothing Ear (stick)
  • Nothing Ear (2)
  • CMF Buds
  • CMF Neckband Pro
  • CMF Buds Pro

Even the more budget-friendly CMF series of audio products won’t miss out on the AI update. However, the primary requirement for enabling this integration on these products is owning a Nothing Phone. For existing users, this enhancement adds to the already impressive array of ChatGPT features introduced with the NothingOS 2.5.5 update.

Nothing users have become accustomed to a range of features, from a dedicated ChatGPT button in the clipboard to AI generative wallpapers, and more. Now, with the new integration, users can navigate to Controls -> Voice Assistant within the Nothing X app on their Nothing Phone and select ChatGPT. This feature enables Nothing earbud users to summon ChatGPT via a dedicated gesture on the device, making it effortless to have queries addressed by the chatbot.

However, accessing this integration does require being part of the Nothing ecosystem.

Last night, OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT-4o for its free users, enhancing its capabilities significantly. Given that the creators of ChatGPT are striving to make the chatbot more accessible to all, why is Nothing restricting such a crucial feature to select individuals?

The brand even shared a meme-worthy edited image on X, depicting Joaquin Phoenix wearing a Nothing earbud in a scene from “Her”. If you happen to own a Nothing Phone (1), Phone (2), or Phone (2a), consider yourself fortunate. The allure of the ecosystem seems undeniable, doesn’t it?

That’s my take on the matter. What are your thoughts on the ChatGPT integration being limited to Nothing Phone users? Let us know in the comments below!
