Previously, we reported that Windows 11’s highly anticipated AI Explorer feature might be exclusive to Snapdragon X series PCs, based on a code snippet discovered by X user Albacore (@thebookisclosed). Now, this user has uncovered some DLLs related to the AI Explorer (AIX) feature, revealing new glyphs and, most notably, some uniquely designed cursors for Windows 11.
By swapping the DLLs, the user managed to reveal the new cursor, which features a unique, bottle-shaped design with an accent, diverging significantly from traditional cursor designs. The text selection cursor has also been redesigned. This new cursor may be associated with AI Explorer’s screen understanding feature, which allows users to select text on their screen for further AI processing.
Additionally, the X user discovered some intriguing glyphs and icons related to the AI Explorer feature. Among these is an icon for the Screen Capture feature connected to AIX, as illustrated below.
The AIX package unveils several features, including Sidebar Island, Shoulder Tap, Screen Understanding, Intent Engine, Discovery Overlay, and more. Additionally, another X user (@PhantomofEarth) has discovered several AI Explorer-related strings, such as screen understanding and AI Host.
It also suggests that AI models could operate on the device using the on-device NPU. Internal strings related to AIX indicate: “Screen understanding is paused. Models are not available and need to be downloaded.” Given that the Snapdragon X Elite features a powerful NPU, the likelihood of running AI models locally is high.
Overall, Windows users have much to look forward to as Microsoft prepares to unveil the next version of Windows 11 with the 24H2 update. In addition, new Surface devices equipped with the Snapdragon X Elite chipset will be announced on May 20. Meanwhile, Qualcomm is set to reveal the Snapdragon X series on April 24.
