Starting out covering AI at AzMo Tech, I never anticipated its immense growth and integration into daily life. ChatGPT sparked the consumer AI revolution, but innovations like the Humane AI Pin and rabbitAI have expanded its reach. Just as I adjusted to Microsoft’s Copilot Key on Windows laptops, Logitech introduces AI to peripherals.
Indeed, Logitech is launching a mouse equipped with a dedicated AI button. The Logitech M750 Signature AI Edition features a button designed to activate the Logitech Prompt Builder, a complimentary application available within the Logi Options + app.
Although the mouse boasts an AI button, the true highlight lies in the Logitech Prompt Builder.
Harnessing the Power of ChatGPT at My Fingertips
While I’m a fan of AI like anyone else, I find it tedious to open a new browser tab for ChatGPT each time I need information. Logitech’s Prompt Builder removes this inconvenience entirely.
With just a swift download, all it took was assigning a mouse key to the shortcut, and I was set. You don’t necessarily need the mouse with the dedicated AI button; your existing Logitech mouse can bring ChatGPT right to your fingertips.
The app serves as a chatbot interface for the widely-used ChatGPT. It achieves this by launching a tidy pop-up window where you can interact with the bot and perform various tasks. With Prompt Builder, I simply selected the text, and it auto-pasted into the window! But that’s not the main point here.
In addition to summoning the helpful AI bot, Prompt Builder offers Recipes. These are predefined prompts you can use alongside your text when interacting with ChatGPT. I had a blast experimenting with the four recipes, allowing me to rephrase paragraphs, rewrite content, compose and respond to emails, and even generate bullet points.
For those seeking to unleash their creativity, the app offers the ability to craft custom recipes. These recipes allow you to input prompts and parameters, enabling seamless communication with ChatGPT. While some users encountered difficulties opening Prompt Builder on their systems, I fortunately didn’t face any issues on my MacBook. This led to a significant increase in my ChatGPT usage within just an hour, surpassing my usage over the past year.
Is This (Hardware Innovation) Really Necessary?
I’ll be upfront: AI holds significant value for me. While I value chatbots guiding me in writing (I could use some pointers), I also strongly advocate for human creativity. I recognize this debate is age-old. Despite Logitech’s Prompt Builder putting AI at our fingertips, I can’t shake the feeling that it might be a bit excessive.
Naturally, that hasn’t deterred them, with the new M750 AI Edition already on shelves, priced at $49. While you can purchase it immediately, if you have a compatible mouse, you can also experiment with the Logitech Prompt Builder. Although the company hasn’t provided a comprehensive list of compatible mice, it functions seamlessly on my Logi M337.
