Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: Benchmarks and Specifications

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7-series chipsets had long been criticized for being underpowered compared to MediaTek’s Dimensity lineup. However, the recent release of the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 is changing that narrative. We recently got our hands on the OnePlus Ace 3V, the first smartphone to feature this new chipset, and decided to put it to the test. We ran multiple benchmarks to evaluate its CPU, GPU, modem, and overall performance.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 Specifications

But before we dive into the benchmark scores, let’s take a look at the key specifications of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: Geekbench 6

For the CPU performance evaluation, we used the Geekbench 6 test. The Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 achieved an impressive single-core score of 1,747 and a multi-core score of 4,511 on the Ace 3V. This performance is particularly noteworthy for a mid-range chipset.

In the mid-range category, MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 Ultra has been the dominant player, but Qualcomm is now poised to make a significant impact with the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3. This new chipset even comes close to matching the performance of 2022’s flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: AnTuTu Score

In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 achieved an impressive score of 1,456,859. Surpassing the 1-million mark, this 7-series chipset outperforms the Dimensity 8300 Ultra.

You can view the CPU, GPU, memory, and UX scores from the AnTuTu test below:

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: CPU Throttling Test

During the CPU Throttling test, the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 exhibited impressive performance, only throttling to 84% of its maximum capacity. Over the 15-minute test duration, it managed the heavy CPU workload admirably, maintaining consistent performance without noticeable drops.

To assess performance degradation over time, we conducted the test seven times. The chipset demonstrated effective management of both performance and thermals. Credit is due not only to Qualcomm but also to OnePlus for integrating a large vapor chamber into the OnePlus Ace 3V, also known as the Nord 4.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test

To evaluate the Adreno 732 GPU on the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3, we conducted the demanding 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test. The GPU performed admirably, achieving a peak loop score of 2,954 and a minimum loop score of 2,476, with a stability rating of 83.8%.

Additionally, we tested the regular Wild Life Stress test, which produced a maximum score, indicating excellent performance. Since the chipset lacks Ray Tracing support, we did not conduct the Solar Bay test.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: AI Performance

Moving on to the Hexagon NPU performance, we used the AITuTu benchmark test, where the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 scored an impressive 582,942. However, when we ran the AI Benchmark test, the chipset scored unusually low. We are refraining from releasing this score as it may be due to unsupported API or framework issues. We also attempted to use the Geekbench ML app, but encountered continuous crashes.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3: 5G Speed Test

In our 5G speed test, the Snapdragon X63 modem on the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 achieved a maximum download speed of 382 Mbps and a maximum upload speed of 24.5 Mbps. This test was conducted on a Jio 5G network.

However, it’s important to note that since we imported the OnePlus Ace 3V from China, there may be limited support for 5G bands in India. Therefore, consider this factor when interpreting the results.

That concludes our benchmark testing for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. In our previous comparisons with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, we found that Qualcomm has truly crafted an excellent mid-range chipset.

In conclusion, our benchmark testing highlights the impressive capabilities of the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3. The benchmark scores clearly demonstrate Qualcomm’s advancements in the mid-range market with the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3, surpassing the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra to claim the throne as the new mid-range leader. After numerous iterations, Qualcomm has finally produced an outstanding 7-series chipset. I eagerly anticipate OnePlus bringing the Nord 4 to India with this impressive chipset.
