Nothing Confirms Two New Audio Products Set to Launch on April 18

Those familiar with the consumer tech industry are aware that Nothing made its debut in the market with the Nothing Ear (1) audio product in 2022. Since then, the brand has introduced three phones and two sets of truly wireless earbuds. The company has just announced its intention to focus exclusively on audio and will unveil two new audio products on April 18.

We recently covered the teaser image that Nothing shared on X (formerly Twitter). The image featured the Ear (2) mascot, a Beetle, and a new frog mascot leaping over the beetle, which we speculated to be an upcoming audio product. Our speculation has been confirmed.

Nothing Ear and Ear (a) Launching Soon

Nothing has revealed plans to introduce two new audio products to the market: Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a). The former is being marketed as “designed for meticulous audiophiles,” while the latter is positioned as “Everyday Buds.”

While many anticipated the launch of Nothing Ear (3), the London-based company has decided to revamp its naming scheme for its upcoming audio products.

In a community post, Nothing announced, “Our devices are built to last, so we recommend identifying what matters to you in an audio product and starting from there. No nomenclature-based upgrades.”

This statement raises questions about the possibility of future iterations of these devices. If there are no future iterations, how can Nothing claim to be “going all in on audio?” We might only discover the answers on April 18th.

Nothing has entrusted WIRED with posting the announcement, revealing that the upcoming Nothing Ear will boast a new ceramic driver for crisper sound and better bass frequencies. The Ear (a) will feature improved noise cancellation, upgraded from 40dB to 45dB on the Ear 2.

However, this is all the information available about the upcoming TWS earbuds. There are many unanswered questions regarding the “no-nomenclature” statement, the new naming scheme, and the audiophile-grade Nothing Ear. These questions will only be addressed on April 18.

What are your thoughts on Nothing’s upcoming earbuds? Have you had the opportunity to use any of Nothing’s current audio products? If yes, what was your experience? Share your thoughts in the comments section below and check out our review of the CMF Buds by Nothing.
