As the anticipation for the PS5 Pro grows, fresh details continue to emerge. According to a recent exclusive report by Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the requirements for the ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced‘ or ‘Trinity Enhanced’ label have been disclosed. This label signifies the optimized graphics mode exclusive to the Pro variant, enhancing the gaming experience for standard edition games.
As per documents obtained by Insider Gaming, PS5 Pro Enhanced games will include:
- PSSR for upscaling resolution to 4K
- Consistent 60 frames per second
- Addition or enhancement of ray tracing effects
PlayStation has introduced additional criteria for games to earn the PS5 Pro enhanced label. Among the initial requirements is the need for heightened target resolution for titles with fixed resolution on the standard console, as well as increased maximum resolution for titles with variable resolution on the standard console.
PlayStation additionally aims for titles on the PS5 Pro to attain a higher target frame rate compared to the standard edition, which previously had fixed frames. In tandem with the introduction of Raytracing effects on the new console, PSSR plays a significant role in maintaining high resolution through upscaling. Moreover, it can bolster FPS via the machine learning feature.
Having delved into the rumored specs of the PS5 Pro, it appears that meeting these targets is within the realm of possibility for the upcoming PlayStation console. Additionally, the Insider Gaming report highlights:
This feasibility stems from a swifter RAM, operating at a 28% increased speed, and a larger GPU, boasting a 67% expansion compared to the standard console, resulting in a 45% faster performance.
Insider has disclosed that with these combined features, the PS5 Pro surpasses the standard edition by 45% in speed. Consequently, rendering speed can also achieve higher levels on the Pro variant. Similar to the launch of the PS4 Pro, which received the ‘Enhanced‘ tag for PS4 games, the upgraded hardware promises enhanced frames and resolution for games.
Previously, Digital Foundry’s specs analysis indicated that the Pro would only receive a GPU upgrade, suggesting that it would need to address issues related to frames and resolution. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the Pro variant will retain the same CPU, which could impact its ability to run games like GTA 6, expected later in 2025.
We’ll have to wait for the release to see how well the ‘Enhanced’ label performs. Are you looking forward to PS5 games receiving the ‘Enhanced’ label on the PS5 Pro, promising improved frames and resolution? Drop your opinions in the comment box down below.
