Are you and your friend often sharing Reels on Instagram? If so, you might be interested in a new feature Instagram is developing called “Blend.” This feature allows you to create a private feed of Reels curated specifically for you and your friend. Blend combines the Reels you’ve shared with each other on Instagram and the content you both enjoy.
Alessandro Paluzzi, a well-known reverse engineer and leaker, first spotted this feature. According to his X (formerly Twitter) post, the feature will be private between two users. This means your other friends won’t know if you have started a Blend with someone, and either of you can leave at any time. It’s unclear whether the Blend will end if the host leaves it.
The attached screenshot shared by Alessandro provides a brief description of what to expect from the new feature. According to the description, Blend will allow two people to share a private feed of reels with content curated just for them on Instagram. However, it’s unclear if you will see any other recommendations outside your and your friend’s interests. The refresh and update frequency of the content is also uncertain.
Blend is currently only available internally, and there are no reports of its external availability. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the feature will be available to the public anytime soon. Additionally, the name of the feature might change since it clashes with Spotify’s Blend feature, which works in a similar way. There’s even a chance that it might not be released publicly at all.
Features like Blend provide new avenues to discover content on Instagram that you would want to watch and share with friends. It can be a great way to learn each other’s interests and strengthen your bond, especially with new friends. I can already imagine creating several Blend feeds with different friends of mine. It will also help you find content that you believe a friend of yours genuinely likes.
