Similar to the buzz surrounding the iPhone 16 series, the upcoming fourth-generation iPhone SE has been a hot topic. Speculations suggest that Apple is gearing up to introduce the iPhone SE 4 with a brand-new modern design, finally bidding farewell to Touch ID. Recently, 91Mobiles obtained new CAD renders that provide a clearer glimpse of the iPhone SE 4’s potential appearance, hinting at a design akin to the iPhone 14, complete with a single primary camera.
According to the CAD renders, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to sport a 6.1-inch all-screen display with a Face ID notch at the top, which will also house the front-facing camera.
In contrast to its predecessor’s curved design and lightning port, the iPhone SE 4 will feature flat sides and a USB-C port. This move is interesting as it will bring the affordable iPhone model in line with the modern iPhone lineup, resembling the iPhone 14.
Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to include an Action Button, a feature currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models. This would represent a significant upgrade over the current iPhone SE.
Launched in 2022, the current iPhone SE 3 features an iPhone 8-like design, sporting a 4.7-inch display with large bezels and a Home button for Touch ID.
Based on the renders, the new iPhone SE 4 is expected to be 147mm tall, 71.5mm wide, and 7.7mm thick, compared to the existing iPhone SE 3, which measures 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm. These dimensions highlight the size difference between the two models.
Indeed, the dimensions of the iPhone SE 4 align closely with those of the iPhone 14, measuring 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8mm. On its back, the iPhone SE 4 will feature a single rear camera cutout with a flash sensor. It appears that Apple may finally be moving away from its 12MP sensor and opting for a larger, newer 48MP sensor on the iPhone SE 4.
These new CAD files support previous reports suggesting that the iPhone SE 4 will draw design inspiration from the iPhone 14. This includes features such as Face ID, a 6.1-inch OLED screen, an Action Button, USB-C port, and a single rear camera. As we all know, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be released in 2025.
91Mobiles has a track record of revealing accurate CAD renders for devices such as the iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro. While their designs for the Apple Watch Series 7 were off the mark, we might have more confidence in their iPhone renders being correct.
Additionally, the images closely align with our expectations for the next iteration of the iPhone SE, making the renders more plausible.
While it’s exciting to see Apple evolve its entry-level iPhone segment, it may also signal the end of compact iPhones. Many users, especially the elderly and senior citizens, still prefer phones with a compact form factor for easy one-handed use.
Therefore, repurposing the iPhone 14 design for the iPhone SE 4 might disappoint users who were expecting an iPhone 12 mini-like design. With Apple officially discontinuing the iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini, users will have no choice but to opt for larger models. What’s your thoughts on it? Share it in the comment section below!
