The Mortuary Assistant Team Unveils a New ‘Paranormal Activity’ Video Game.

For over a decade, the cult horror franchise Paranormal Activity has captivated cinema enthusiasts. Surprisingly, despite its popularity, the series has never been adapted into a proper video game. However, this is set to change with Darkstone Digital and DreadXP’s announcement of the development of Paranormal Activity: Found Footage. In collaboration with Paramount Game Studios, these companies are set to create a terrifying gaming experience.

Darkstone Digital is renowned for its work on The Mortuary Assistant, a critically acclaimed horror game that has garnered a dedicated following. Given their success with this title, there are high expectations for their adaptation of the Paranormal Activity franchise.

DreadXP, the publishers, also shared a reveal trailer for the game on their YouTube channel, offering a glimpse into the signature found-footage atmosphere synonymous with Paranormal Activity.

Release Date for Paranormal Activity Game

According to an exclusive report from Variety, Paramount’s “Paranormal Activity” horror franchise is set to launch in 2026. When discussing the game, the publisher DreadXP mentioned:

Although platform confirmation is pending, the game is expected to have broad availability across multiple platforms. In 2017, a VR title, “Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul,” was launched for PS4 and PC. However, it was developed by a different creator and received mixed reviews.

Brian Clarke, co-director of DreadXP and creative director at DarkStone Digital, heads the development team for the Paranormal Activity game. The game will feature a Haunt System” in addition to the signature found-footage-style gameplay the series is renowned for. This system will dynamically alter the scares experienced based on players’ actions.

Commencing in 2007, Paranormal Activity has become a cult classic among horror aficionados. DreadXP producer Patrick Ewald, discussing the collaboration, characterized it as an exhilarating opportunity to introduce the world of Paranormal Activity to gamers worldwide. Clarke further remarked:

As a horror enthusiast who recently ventured into a Dino Island game, I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of a quality Paranormal Activity game. What do you think about this exciting collaboration? Let us know in the comments below.
