Gigabyte is set to unveil a new graphics card, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, based on AMD’s RDNA 3 graphics architecture. The “GRE” in its name stands for Golden Rabbit Edition, a special lineup of GPUs initially launched in China.
According to reports from Videocardz, Gigabyte is preparing for the release of the RX 7900 GRE graphics card. While the company has not officially listed the GPU yet, leaked photos have surfaced. Currently, there is no available information about this Gigabyte variant, including its clock speed, pricing, or availability.
However, we do have information about the specifications of the RX 7900 GRE from its 2023 launch. The card boasts 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM capacity and a total board power (TBP) of 260W. It features 80 compute units, 80 ray-tracing accelerators, and 160 AI accelerators. Additionally, it supports the AV1 codec for high-quality game streaming.
Regarding the design, the RX 7900 GRE appears to bear a striking resemblance to Gigabyte’s RX 7800 XT Gaming edition. However, it’s worth noting that Gigabyte’s attention to AMD GPUs doesn’t seem to match that given to Nvidia GPUs. The company offers only a limited selection of designs for AMD-based GPUs.
RX 7900 GRE Now Available Outside China; Is It Worth Considering?
It’s important to note that we’re discussing the potential availability of the RX 7900 GRE graphics card from various brands outside of China, rather than focusing on the specific availability of this Gigabyte variant. Initially, it was believed that the GRE edition Radeon graphics cards would only be sold in China.
However, the RX 7900 GRE has become more widely available, with listings appearing in Europe as well. Additionally, this graphics card can be obtained in the US, but it comes paired with a fully pre-built PC from CyberPower. This gaming PC from CyberPower is currently listed on BestBuy for $1749.
According to reports from Videocardz, there have been sightings of the RX 7900 GRE in Japan, indicating that it may become available there as well. The RX 7900 GRE was also listed in India, but it is currently out of stock with no other listings available.
The availability and stock situation of the RX 7900 GRE are uncertain at best. For a comparable performance, you might consider the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, which closely matches the GRE edition. Alternatively, the more expensive RX 7900 XT offers superior gaming performance compared to the RX 7900 GRE. However, if you come across a good deal on the RX 7900 GRE in your region, it could be worth considering!
