OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R Set for India Debut on January 23

OnePlus has officially introduced the OnePlus 12 in China, flaunting impressive specifications such as the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a display capable of up to 4,500 nits of brightness. The phone’s imminent release in India and other global markets has been confirmed, alongside the OnePlus 12R.

Scheduled for January 23, 2024, the launch aligns with OnePlus’ 10th anniversary celebrations. The event is set to commence at 7:30 pm and is anticipated to be an in-person affair, with a live-stream available for online audiences, following the typical format of OnePlus events.

OnePlus 12: Key Specifications

The OnePlus 12 showcases a prominent circular camera module on its rear housing the 4th Gen Hasselblad cameras. This setup comprises a 50MP primary Sony LYT-808 sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP omnivision OV64B periscope telephoto lens offering up to 3x optical zoom. For selfies, it features a 32MP front-facing camera.

The device boasts a sizable 6.82-inch BOE-manufactured X1 2K OLED LTPO display delivering an impressive 4,500 nits of brightness and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Notably, it’s received an A+ certification from DisplayMate. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, the OnePlus 12 supports a staggering 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage capacity.

Fueled by a robust 5,400mAh battery, it supports 100W fast charging along with 50W wireless charging capabilities. Running on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14, the phone includes innovative features like Rain touch technology for usability in wet conditions, a USB Type-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 1), and a host of other functionalities.

What to Expect: OnePlus 12R

For the first time, the OnePlus ‘R’ series, including the OnePlus 12R, will extend its reach beyond India. Historically exclusive to India, this move marks a significant expansion.

Though the OnePlus 12R hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, earlier leaks provide insights. It’s expected to resemble the OnePlus 12 but with slightly dialed-down features tailored for a flagship killer segment. This may include a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 50MP triple rear camera setup, among other specifications. Speculations suggest a larger 5,500mAh battery, similar to the OnePlus 12, and support for 100W fast charging. The device is likely to run on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14.

With the flagship launch event just around the corner, anticipated to be the first global release of 2024, official details are expected to surface soon.
