WhatsApp has extended its “View Once” feature to include voice messages, aligning with its existing capability for sending and receiving disappearing media. This enhancement allows users to share vanishing voice notes, emphasizing privacy.
Upon sending a voice note, users will now have the option to select a “one-time” icon to enable the vanishing functionality. Similar to the process for sending disappearing photos and videos, users will need to activate this feature each time they wish to send a disappearing voice note. Once activated, the voice messages will vanish after being listened to.
WhatsApp Enhances Privacy for Voice Notes!
This feature enhances privacy when communicating, especially for sensitive or confidential voice messages. WhatsApp ensures end-to-end encryption for disappearing voice messages, but cautions that there are still alternative methods for interception. For instance, users with Android devices could potentially utilize the native screen recording functionality to capture the audio content. Hence, it’s advisable to share these messages only with individuals you trust.
After sending a View Once voice message, it becomes inaccessible for playback. To track if the recipient has accessed it, the “read receipts” option must be activated. These disappearing voice messages will remain available for 14 days, unless they remain unopened, in which case they’ll vanish after that period.
Notably, users can’t forward, save, star, or share these disappearing voice notes and media. However, they retain the option to report any inappropriate content. Additionally, if these messages remain unopened during the backup process, they can be included in the backup.
WhatsApp will soon introduce the global rollout of View Once voice messages. To check if the feature is available, update WhatsApp and attempt to send a voice note, which should display a timer icon alongside it. Share your opinions on this new feature in the comments section. If you’re unable to access it immediately, rest assured, as the rollout is expected to reach all users shortly.
