Following the MS Build 2024 event, Microsoft has released the Windows 11 24H2 update to Insiders ahead of its general availability. You can install the Windows 11 24H2 update right now without waiting for months. This update includes a new Copilot app, an improved context menu, a scrollable quick settings panel, and many other new features. If you prefer, you can also download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO. Let’s get started.
Switch to the Release Preview Channel
Prior to its general release, Microsoft is providing early access to the Windows 11 24H2 update (Build 26100.712) to Insiders in the Release Preview channel. The Release Preview channel is typically less buggy and nearly as stable as the final build. Here’s a quick guide to upgrading to the Windows 11 24H2 build in just a few clicks:
1. Open Windows Settings by pressing “Windows + I”, then go to “Windows Update” and click on “Windows Insider Programme”.
2. Click “Get started” and select “Link an account”. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
3. Choose the “Release Preview” channel and click “Continue”. If prompted, restart your PC by clicking “Restart”.
4. Open Windows Settings again and go to “Windows Update”. Turn on the switch next to “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available”.
5. Click “Check for updates”.
6. A notification will display stating “Windows 11, version 24H2 is available”.
7. After the installation is complete, restart your PC to finish installing the 24H2 update.
Download Windows 11 24H2 ISO and Clean Install
Microsoft has also made the ISO for the Windows 11 24H2 build available for download. If you prefer a clean install of the 24H2 build, you can follow this method. Please be aware that the current ISO available for the Release Preview channel is Build 26100.560. This means that after installation, you will need to join the Insider program and switch to the Release Preview channel to receive the latest 26100.712 update.
1. Navigate to Microsoft’s download page and scroll down to locate the ISO for Windows 11 Insider Preview (Release Preview Channel) – Build 26100.560.
2. Once the 24H2 ISO is downloaded, open Rufus (Free) and use it to create a bootable USB drive.
These are the two methods you can use to install the annual feature update on your PC. Bear in mind that promising AI features such as Recall and Cocreator are unavailable on x64 PCs. To use these AI features, you will need to purchase a new Snapdragon X Elite laptop, which comes with an on-device NPU. That’s all from us.
