At CES 2024, Asus has introduced the all-new ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 laptop series with a completely revamped design. When compared to the previous-generation design, characterized by an array of Anime Matrix LEDs on the display lid.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 and G14: New Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen 8000 Processor CPUs
The ROG Zephyrus G16 is set to be equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors, ranging from Core Ultra 9 185H to Core Ultra 7 155H. Enhancing AI capabilities on the latest Zephyrus G16 laptop, Intel’s NPU chip will play a pivotal role.
Conversely, the recently launched 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 boasts the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor, featuring an ‘XDNA 16 TOPs’ neural processor. This advanced AI technology from AMD is also incorporated into the newly unveiled desktop Ryzen 8000G processors showcased at CES 2024.
In terms of graphics, both the Asus Zephyrus G16 and G14 showcase Nvidia RTX 40 Series laptop GPUs. The larger G16 model can be equipped with up to an RTX 4090, while the smaller G14 model supports up to an RTX 4070.
In terms of design, the new Zephyrus G14 and G16 showcase a remarkably clean build crafted from CNC aluminum, resulting in a sleek and minimalist appearance. The display lid of the ROG Zephyrus G14 features an etched diagonal line with embedded LEDs, creating an aesthetically pleasing illumination. This feature, known as ‘Slash Lightning,’ is customizable through the Armoury Crate software.
Both the ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 exhibit a reduced overall weight compared to their predecessors, with the G14 weighing 1.5kg and the G16 at 1.85kg. The Zephyrus G14 is equipped with a 73 WHr battery, while the larger Zephyrus G16 boasts a 90 WHr battery.
Expect commendable battery life for gaming laptops with both models. In terms of audio, these ROG Zephyrus G16 and G14 laptops come with six-speaker setups, including a 4-speaker “dual force woofer” audio system paired with two tweeters.
Stunning Displays with OLED Care Features
A significant upgrade to the new G14/16 lineup is the introduction of stunning OLED displays, complete with GSync support. The OLED displays offer a 3K resolution (2880×1880) on the Zephyrus G16 and a 2.5K resolution (2560×1600) on the Zephyrus G14.
The Zephyrus G16 boasts an impressive up to 240Hz refresh rate with its OLED panel, while the ROG Zephyrus G14’s OLED display operates at a refresh rate of 120Hz. Both displays feature a 16:10 aspect ratio and hold VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.
Asus will also offer variants with IPS displays for the Zephyrus G16, maintaining a 240Hz refresh rate. To ensure proper care for OLED displays, Asus has incorporated OLED care features in its Armoury Crate app. These features include Pixel Refresh, a special screensaver, and Windows Taskbar Transparency, designed to prevent OLED burn-in.
Details regarding pricing and availability for the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 are expected to be disclosed upon their launch in February 2024. In addition to the latest AMD Ryzen 8000 and Intel Core Ultra CPUs, the new Zephyrus G14 and G16 come equipped with a MUX switch, allowing users to easily define which GPU should be utilized.
