AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D AM4 CPU Released: Outperforms Core i5-13600KF for Gaming?

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has recently launched the Ryzen 7 5700X3D processor, which is considered one of the best CPUs to purchase if you are using an AMD AM4 motherboard such as the B450, B550, X670 series, or others. Here’s a detailed overview of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D, covering its price, where to buy, gaming performance, and specifications.

The 3D V-Cache technology, initially introduced in 2022 with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, has been highly praised by gamers. Processors equipped with 3D V-Cache often outperform those with higher synthetic scores (such as multi-threaded or single-threaded scores) in gaming due to the additional cache that enhances gaming performance.

In addition to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D, AMD has also unveiled the Ryzen 7 5700. These processors were first mentioned at CES 2024, coinciding with the release of Ryzen 8000G APUs.

Ryzen 7 5700X3D: What You Need & New AMD AM4 CPU Specifications

If your motherboard supports the Ryzen 5000 series (with a BIOS update if necessary), you can install the CPU. You can check if your AMD AM4 motherboard supports new generations here.

In terms of specifications, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D is a 105W TDP processor with a maximum boost clock of up to 4.1GHz. It features 8 cores and 16 threads. Please note that a cooling solution is not bundled with the processor. The full specifications of both newly launched AMD AM4 processors are provided below:

The X3D processors by AMD are particularly suitable for gamers. This new CPU for the older AM4 platform simplifies the upgrade process for users with older AMD motherboards. Additionally, the Ryzen 7 5700 is a good option for users looking to upgrade to a newer generation CPU without the budget for a Ryzen 9 5950X.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D Benchmarks: Dominance in Gaming

However, it’s worth noting that for a new gaming PC, building a DDR5-based system on AMD’s Ryzen 7000 platform might be more preferable if you’re aiming for a modern setup. The AM4 platform, which the Ryzen 7 5700X3D uses, is based on DDR4, an older memory standard.

That said, here are some performance numbers (via: Bilibili.com) for this new CPU tested by a tech reviewer from China known as Wutongxue (translated), showcasing the capabilities of the 3D V-Cache technology!

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D was pitted against the Intel Core i5-13600KF and while the Intel i5 is undeniably faster, the 3D V-Cache technology in AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X3D proved advantageous in several gaming benchmarks. For instance, in Forza Horizon 5, both processors delivered similar FPS, but in Cyberpunk 2077, the Intel processor outperformed the AMD counterpart.

However, in other tested games, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D emerged as the superior gaming CPU. It showcased a 25% improvement in performance in Counter-Strike 2, and in Fearless Contract, it achieved 525 FPS compared to the Intel Core i5-13600KF’s 396 FPS.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D & Ryzen 7 5700: Pricing & Availability

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D is now on the market for $249, while its counterpart, the Ryzen 7 5700, is priced at $175. These processors are expected to be available globally, offering an enticing upgrade option for users. We’ll continue to provide updates on their availability.
