Microsoft has long positioned Xbox as the bridge between consoles and PCs, blurring the lines between the two platforms. However, in an unexpected twist, Xbox may have accidentally revealed more than intended.
In a GDC 2025 blog post, Xbox shared an image showcasing a new unified UI across multiple devices. However, the image was swiftly taken down likely due to a surprising detail: a Steam tab appearing in the interface. This unintentional reveal has sparked speculation about possible deeper integrations between Xbox and PC gaming.

Once The Verge pointed it out, Microsoft swiftly took down the image. However, sources close to the company suggest that the new Xbox app UI aims to display all the games installed on your PC across multiple devices. This means you might soon be able to access your Steam library directly from an Xbox console or even a potential handheld device one that’s not a Steam Deck.
While the UI shown appears to be a mock-up, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of Steam integration. Given the existing labels in the Xbox PC app, it’s also likely that Epic Games could have its own tag alongside Steam in this new interface.
If Microsoft moves forward with showcasing PC games on the Xbox app, it could potentially position itself as the ultimate hub for PC gaming, consolidating multiple storefronts into one platform. According to The Verge, however, the Steam integration is still in its early stages.
While it’s unclear if we’ll see a full Steam library on Xbox, the concept image offers an intriguing glimpse into a possible future. Phil Spencer has also hinted at the possibility of integrating other PC stores like the Epic Games Store and Itch.io into the Xbox ecosystem.
