A few days ago, Vivo announced the launch date for OriginOS 6 and has been gradually revealing key features of the Android 16-based update. The latest teaser unveils the new lockscreen, which appears to borrow elements from Apple’s design approach.
OriginOS 6 Adopts iOS 26-Inspired Liquid Glass Design
The OriginOS 6 lockscreen showcases translucent, adaptive clocks with a glass-like appearance, echoing the Liquid Glass design introduced in iOS 26. The similarities suggest Vivo has taken inspiration from Apple’s aesthetic to bring a sleek, modern look to its OS.
Vivo’s iOS 26-inspired design for OriginOS 6 is now more apparent than ever. The company has shared additional lockscreen images along with a brief overview of the new look. Vivo states that OriginOS 6 employs real-time rendering technology to simulate the refraction and shadows of natural light, integrating the brand’s latest material innovation inspired by nature for a smooth, seamless experience.
The lockscreen also adopts the “Huarong Grid”, offering flexible customization of layout and materials. Vivo explains that subtle transparency variations create natural drop shadows against the background, allowing the lockscreen image to blend more harmoniously with the overall user interface.
This aligns with what OriginOS Product Manager Ziang Huang mentioned, highlighting that the next OS upgrade will introduce a new Comfort Engineering design and experience principle.
Still, it’s clear that Apple pioneered the Liquid Glass design, and since its introduction, many brands have been quick to adopt similar elements across their operating systems. While this has made OS designs look increasingly alike, it has also limited the opportunity for brands to develop a distinct visual identity.
