Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Shadows Compatibility with Steam Deck

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set for an ambitious March launch, and excitement is building. While many players will experience the game on PC or consoles, handheld devices like the Steam Deck offer a unique appeal. Previously, an AC Shadows Q&A suggested the game wouldn’t support the Deck, but Ubisoft has now changed its stance.

Ubisoft’s official account has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will officially support the Steam Deck at launch. Additionally, the company stated that it is awaiting classification from Valve for the next steps.

This positive development follows Ubisoft’s initial denial of Steam Deck support for AC Shadows, citing the platform as being ‘below the minimum specs for PC’. As noted earlier, this was stated in an official Assassin’s Creed Shadows Q&A from February.

With Ubisoft reversing its decision, Steam Deck users can now look forward to playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows at launch. While settings will be adjusted to ensure smooth performance on the platform, major issues should be minimal. Given the recent change, Ubisoft has likely put in the necessary effort to optimize the game.

This also marks a positive step for Steam users, as Ubisoft has been gradually bringing more of its titles to the platform, including AC Mirage and Star Wars Outlaws in late 2024.

For handheld gamers, the addition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to the Steam Deck is an exciting development. Are you looking forward to playing it? Let us know in the comments!
