Opening the comment section of an Instagram reel reveals a mix of opinions—some kind and others harsh and insensitive. This negativity has become an issue, prompting the platform to test a new feature that allows users to dislike comments.
Trusted leaker Alessandro Paluzzi recently shared a post on X previewing the dislike feature for Instagram comments. The feature appears as a downward arrow icon positioned between the heart and reply icons.
The feature appears similar to Reddit’s downvote button. Since the screenshot is from the story comments section, it seems likely that only creators will have access to it, allowing them to dislike comments they don’t want to appear prominently.
Paluzzi did not provide details on its functionality, only stating that “#Instagram is working on the ability to dislike comments.” There’s no dislike counter visible, so it’s unclear if dislikes will be displayed. This suggests the feature is still in early development, and we may need to wait for more information.
While it seems the dislike option may be exclusive to creators, it could be valuable for downvoting harsh or rude comments. What are your thoughts on this dislike feature for Instagram comments? Let us know in the comments below.
