Sony has officially launched the highly anticipated WH-1000XM6 headphones in India. Globally unveiled in May 2025, these are the latest flagship wireless headphones in Sony’s 1000XM series.
Sony WH-1000XM6 Features the New QN3 Noise-Cancelling Chip
The WH-1000XM6 features a completely redesigned noise-cancellation system powered by Sony’s new HD Noise Cancelling Processor, the QN3. According to Sony, this chip is seven times faster than its predecessor and, combined with 12 microphones, delivers significantly improved noise cancellation for a more immersive listening experience.
Regarding sound quality, Sony collaborated with renowned studios to fine-tune the audio. With new drivers featuring carbon fiber domes, the WH-1000XM6 delivers clearer, more precise sound.
The headphones support the LDAC codec, allowing 32-bit 990kbps lossless audio over Bluetooth. They also include Sony’s AI-powered DSEE Extreme technology to enhance compressed music. Additionally, a six-microphone AI beamforming system improves call clarity for crystal-clear conversations.
The WH-1000XM6 extends its functionality beyond music with modes that transform stereo audio into immersive spatial sound. It also features a gaming EQ from Sony’s Inzone headset to minimize latency during gaming.
The headphones come with a dedicated mute switch and enhanced touch controls for toggling between noise-cancellation modes. Sony states that the WH-1000XM6 offers up to 30 hours of playback with ANC on and 40 hours with ANC off, providing long-lasting listening sessions.
Other updates include an improved carrying case with a magnetic buckle and the ability to fold like the WH-1000XM4, a feature removed in the XM5. Sony has also reinforced the joints on both sides, addressing durability concerns seen in the XM5.
Sony WH-1000XM6 Arrives in India Five Months After Global Launch
The WH-1000XM6 is priced at ₹39,990 in India and comes in three color options: Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue. The headphones are available at Sony Centres nationwide and can also be purchased on Amazon.
