Sony has recently announced an increase in prices for its PlayStation Plus subscription service, which was introduced last year. These price changes are set to take effect this month. Let’s take a look at how much more you’ll need to pay for a PS Plus subscription now.
PlayStation Plus Subscription Fees Revised
Starting from September 6, 2023, the new prices for Sony PlayStation Plus will be implemented. The costs for a 12-month subscription across all tiers will see a significant rise. Below, we’ve outlined the updated pricing for PS Plus subscribers in the US, along with a comparison to the previous prices (as listed on the PS Plus website as of August 31).
Sony states that these price adjustments will enable the company to “continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits” to its PS Plus subscribers. Existing subscribers won’t see the price change until their next renewal date. Any modifications made after September 6 will adopt the new pricing framework.
In addition, Sony has unveiled three new games for PlayStation Plus members, available for claiming throughout September. The lineup of games comprises Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero. While Saints Row is accessible for both PS5 and PS4, the other two games are exclusive to PS4. Nonetheless, players with a PS5 can still enjoy these games, albeit at PS4-level graphics quality.
The response from the PlayStation community to the price increase hasn’t been overwhelmingly positive – the blog post about the announcement is filled with criticism from gamers. Hopefully, this adjustment will lead to the addition of more exclusive titles to PS Plus, including their own exclusives. What do you think about the new pricing for the PS Plus subscription?
