One thing a PlayStation user loves is having a little fun with customizing their console. Whether it’s adding new colors to the box, changing controller skins, or installing new themes on the home screen, these modifications help keep the PlayStation’s aesthetics fresh and exciting. Well, now it’s the UI’s turn, as a new PS5 update appears to have introduced animated backgrounds for a limited number of users.
First shared by @chi_m02 on X, the post suggested that Sony is gradually rolling out this update on the PS5. While many might assume it’s a feature exclusive to the PS5 Pro, users on X have refuted this by noting that the new animated wallpapers have also appeared on the base version. Additionally, more static wallpapers have been added to the gallery for players to choose from.
All PS5 Confirmed Animated Backgrounds
Remember, these are only home screen wallpapers for the PS5 that you can customize. This means you won’t get a full theme when you equip them. Currently, there are 13 confirmed animated wallpapers based on Sony IPs included in the update. Here is the list of all the PS5 animated wallpapers confirmed so far:
- Astro Bot
- Days Gone
- Demon’s Souls
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Ghost of Yotei
- God of War Ragnarok
- Horizon: Call of the Wild
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Lego Horizon Adventures
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Rise of Ronin
- Stellar Blade
- MLB The Show 25
As mentioned earlier, this update brings a lot more wallpapers, though most of them are primarily static or not based on specific games. So, don’t expect the classic PS5 theme experience from the 25th Anniversary days. With customizations now in full swing, both the PS5 and PS5 Pro seem poised to offer a more premium user experience.
