Samsung has recently been making waves with announcements regarding its upcoming devices, including the Galaxy Watch 7 series, new foldables, and the Galaxy Ring. However, a crucial detail missing in the Watch 7 series was the SoC, now revealed to be the Samsung Exynos W1000. Here’s all you need to know about it.
The Exynos W1000 is constructed on Samsung Foundry’s 3nm process, a leap from the W930’s 5nm architecture. This suggests that the W1000 could offer much-improved power efficiency, potentially resulting in enhanced battery life for the Galaxy Watch 7 series.
Samsung Exynos W1000 Specs:
The W1000 boasts a 5-core CPU that includes 1 x Cortex-A78 performance core clocked at 1.6 GHz and 4 x Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. Samsung asserts that the W1000 delivers app launch times that are 2.7x faster than those of the W930. The single-core performance appears to have surged by 3.4x, while the multi-core performance has been enhanced by 3.7x.
Among the features packed into the W1000 by Samsung are fan-out panel-level packaging for better heat dissipation, package-on-package (ePOP), and System-in-package, all contributing to improved efficiency.
On the graphics front, the W1000 is equipped with ARM Mali-G68MP2, identical to the W930. It supports a screen resolution of up to 640×640 pixels, Bluetooth LE, LPDDR5 RAM, LTE, 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC.
The W1000 might debut in the Galaxy Watch 7 series, set to launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10.
