Realme 12 Pro Series Launch Date Unveiled for India

Following Xiaomi’s introduction of the Redmi Note 13 series in India, Realme is gearing up for competition in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment. The launch of the Realme 12 Pro series has been officially confirmed for January 29, 2024, at noon, as announced on the company’s official website. The upcoming series includes the Realme 12 Pro 5G and Realme 12 Pro+ 5G. In contrast to Redmi, Realme has opted for a more streamlined approach, unveiling only two variants, both carrying the “Pro” designation. Here are the comprehensive details.

Realme 12 Pro Series Will Feature a Periscope Lens

Building on the success of the Realme 11 Pro series, Realme is placing a renewed emphasis on camera capabilities with the upcoming Realme 12 Pro series. As indicated by the dedicated landing page, the highlight of the series is the inclusion of a periscope lens, enabling impressive portraits with an 80mm focal length.

The claim is that portraits captured with the Realme 12 Pro series will rival those taken with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, aiming to provide DSLR-grade portrait photography in the sub-Rs 30,000 smartphone category. Additionally, enhanced zoom capabilities of up to 120x are anticipated, courtesy of the periscope lens, promising an advanced level of zoom support on the new devices.

While Realme has been tight-lipped about the hardware specifics, rumors suggest that the Realme 12 Pro is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, while the Realme 12 Pro+ might feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, aligning with the Redmi Note 13 Pro. The Pro Plus variant is anticipated to boast a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED screen supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of storage, it could offer configurations up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Leaks also hint at a substantial 5,000 mAh battery unit for the Realme 12 Pro series, complemented by Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. The overall focus appears to be on securing the title of the best camera phone in the sub-30K price range. Additionally, Realme CEO Sky Li has teased a new lineup, the Realme Note series, set to rival the Redmi Note in the budget segment.
