Qualcomm has introduced Quick Charge 5+, the newest iteration of its fast-charging technology. This updated standard promises faster charging, greater efficiency, and cooler operation compared to its predecessor.
According to Qualcomm, Quick Charge 5+ (QC5+) is engineered to deliver higher charging speeds while minimizing heat generation. Utilizing an optimized 20V/7A charging process, the technology reduces thermal stress, helping prevent device overheating and potentially extending the lifespan of smartphones and other compatible devices.

Another significant feature of Quick Charge 5+ is its backward compatibility. In other words, QC5+ will work with existing Quick Charge adapters and accessories, as well as USB Power Delivery PPS, making it highly versatile.
Qualcomm has confirmed that the first smartphones supporting the new standard will be unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, scheduled for September 23–25, 2025. Certified chargers and accessories are also expected to arrive later this year to promote broader adoption.
Although not every device will utilize the full 140W power output, Quick Charge 5+ gives OEMs the flexibility to optimize charging performance based on each device’s design.
