Qualcomm Hints at Snapdragon X Series Launch Event Next Week


While Microsoft is expected to unveil the first Snapdragon X Elite laptop in its Surface lineup on May 20, Qualcomm has teased an earlier surprise announcement for the Snapdragon X series. On the Snapdragon X page, Qualcomm hinted at the launch on April 24 with the caption “Stay tuned for 4/24.”

Although Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Elite chipset in October 2023, this upcoming announcement may formally reveal various SKUs of the SoC platform. In addition to the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite, there is reportedly an 8-core variant called the Snapdragon X Plus. This variant also supports 5G connectivity and may compete with the base Apple M2/M3 chipsets.

The Snapdragon X series includes different power profiles ranging from 23W to 80W. Here are the various SKUs of the Snapdragon X series chipset that have been identified so far.

Snapdragon X Elite

The announcement on April 24th is expected to reveal various SKUs of the Snapdragon X series. Additionally, Wccftech reports that Lenovo is set to unveil its first AI PC in China on April 20th. At Lenovo Tech World 2024, the company will likely introduce its first laptop featuring the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. Qualcomm’s official Weibo page has also confirmed this announcement.

Recent leaks have revealed that the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (2024) is expected to feature the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. Lenovo also plans to launch its classic ThinkPad T14s laptop featuring a Snapdragon X series processor. This suggests that Lenovo may unveil the world’s first Snapdragon X series laptop before Microsoft.

Additionally, Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy Book4 Edge, which will feature the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, in the coming months. As anticipation for Qualcomm’s powerful PC chipset builds, excitement continues to grow. Stay tuned for the latest updates as the announcement approaches.
