Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 with Flagship Features

Following the recent release of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Qualcomm has returned with another addition to its lineup, this time targeting the midrange segment. The latest offering, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, succeeds the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which made its debut in November 2023.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset enhances CPU performance, offers a substantially improved GPU, and incorporates a robust NPU for advanced on-device AI capabilities.

Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 launched in March 2023, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 showcases a 15% improvement in CPU performance. Utilizing TSMC’s 4nm process node, the CPU integrates a robust single Cortex-X4 core clocked at up to 2.8GHz, along with 4 performance cores (Cortex-A720) clocked at up to 2.6GHz, and 3 efficiency cores (Cortex-A520) running at up to 1.9GHz.

In terms of graphics, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is equipped with an upgraded Adreno GPU (likely the Adreno 732), providing a 45% improvement over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. It also includes several flagship gaming features such as Super Resolution, Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 (AFME), Game Post Processing Accelerator, HDR gaming, Shadow Denoiser, and more.

The Hexagon NPU within the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 demonstrates significant advancements, enabling on-device Generative AI capabilities and supporting smaller LLMs and vision models such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 also boasts numerous flagship features on the ISP front. It now enables semantic segmentation for up to 12 layers, captures photos of up to 200MP, integrates Bokeh Engine 2, and introduces functionalities like Snapdragon Low Light Vision and Video Super Resolution. Additionally, it supports Google Ultra HDR photo capture.

Regarding connectivity, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset features the Snapdragon X63 5G modem, identical to the one found in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This modem offers a maximum download speed of up to 4.2 Gbps. Additionally, Qualcomm has introduced the enhanced FastConnect 7800 system for local connectivity, also featured in the flagship Snapdragon 8/8s Gen 3 chipset.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset provides Wi-Fi 7 with HBS (High Band Simultaneous) Multi-Link for exceptional speed, along with Bluetooth 5.4 and LE Audio support. Additionally, it features NavIC support, LPDDR5X memory speed up to 4200 MHz, and compatibility with UFS 4.0.
