POCO’s inaugural release for the year, the POCO X6 series, has arrived, introducing numerous enhancements over its predecessor. Comprising two devices, the POCO X6 and the POCO X6 Pro, the series caters to the mid-range and upper mid-range market segments. Here’s a comprehensive overview of the latest offerings from POCO.
For those unfamiliar, the POCO X6 is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, recently launched in India. On the other hand, the POCO X6 Pro is a rebranded iteration of the Redmi K70E.
POCO X6 and X6 Pro Display
Both phones feature identical 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED panels, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The key distinction lies in the display certification, with the X6 Pro being Dolby Vision certified and supporting HDR10+ along with a peak brightness capability of 1800 nits.
On a theoretical level, distinguishing between them may not be apparent unless you engage with HDR content or use the devices under bright sunlight.
Performance
The regular POCO X6 is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, while the X6 Pro is equipped with the Dimensity 8300 Ultra. The performance of the 7s Gen 2 is quite comparable to the previous year’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, if not slightly lower. Both models offer up to 12GB of RAM and storage space of up to 512GB.
In terms of performance, the Dimensity 8300 Ultra on the X6 Pro falls somewhere between the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, at least on paper. Given that the X6 series is positioned in the mid-range segment, the performance per rupee is notably high.
Cameras
Both the POCO X6 and X6 Pro share an identical camera setup, comprising a 64 MP primary camera, likely the ISOCELL GW3 sensor, featuring OIS support. The secondary camera is an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, accompanied by a 2 MP macro sensor. While the camera performance is anticipated to be decent, a comprehensive assessment will be available in our in-depth review once the devices are at the AzMo Tech offices.
Battery and Charging
The POCO X6 is equipped with a 5,100 mAh battery, supporting 33W charging, while the higher-end Pro model features a slightly smaller 5,000 mAh battery with faster 67W charging capabilities. The disparity in charging speed stands out as one of the significant differences between the two devices.
