The Pixel Watch 3 features a larger 45 mm size and slimmer bezels compared to the Pixel Watch 2. Notably, the Loss of Pulse feature places the Watch 3 ahead of its predecessor. While users in the EU have had this feature for months, Google has now begun rolling it out to Pixel Watch 3 users in the US.
Google received FDA clearance for Loss of Pulse in February. This feature detects a lack of heartbeat or pulse and automatically contacts emergency services to maximize the chances of saving the person.

Google claims it tested the algorithm using 100,000 hours of data to reduce false alerts. The feature is opt-in, and Watch 3 owners will receive a notification when it becomes available. The rollout is gradual and expected to reach all Pixel Watch 3 units in a few weeks.
There is currently no information on whether this feature will be available for the Pixel Watch 2. Given that it is marketed exclusively for the Pixel Watch 3, it is unlikely to be offered on the older model. If you don’t see a notification, you can enable Loss of Pulse Detection in the Safety & Emergency settings on your watch.
With recent updates, Pixel Watch users have benefited from Wear OS 5.1 and a hotfix addressing notification delays and other bugs. Loss of Pulse adds to Google’s comprehensive Safety & Emergency suite, which includes features like Car Crash Detection and Fall Detection. Do you own a Pixel Watch 3?
