Vivo unveiled its newest mobile operating system, OriginOS 6, at its annual Developer Conference in China. Built on Android 16, the update takes inspiration from nature, introducing a sleek, liquid-glass-like design, smoother animations, and advanced AI functionalities. The OS is scheduled to release in India on October 15, 2025. The conference highlighted the redesigned interface, refreshed iconography, and the range of new AI-driven features in OriginOS 6.
OriginOS 6 Delivers Speed, Smoothness, and a Transparent Look
The new OriginOS 6, built on Android 16, immediately feels fresh and polished. Its Liquid Glass-inspired design is prominently visible across the interface, particularly on the lock screen, which now features a transparent clock with glass-like light refractions, giving the system a modern, fluid appearance.

The new clocks in OriginOS 6 offer full customization, allowing users to move and position them anywhere on the screen. The clock design incorporates drop-shadow-like effects, making the text blend naturally with the interface. Users can also resize the clocks to create a sense of depth.
Beyond the lock screen, OriginOS 6 introduces a revamped home screen featuring the same translucent textures and elements, including circular app icons and widgets with curved edges. According to Vivo, these updates make the home screen feel more cohesive, smooth, and visually appealing.

Under the hood, OriginOS 6 introduces the “Blue River Smooth Engine”, which combines a high-performance computing architecture, dual rendering, and photonic storage. These features work together to make transitions, screen navigation, and in-app interactions smoother and lag-free. Vivo states that app launch speeds have improved by up to 11%, along with a 57% boost in responsiveness.
Additionally, Vivo has refined its Dynamic Island-inspired feature, Atomic Island, offering an upgraded media player with enhanced animations. It now supports a wider range of apps, including Maps, ride-hailing services, food delivery platforms, and more, expanding its utility across everyday tasks.

The update also brings a new music lock screen, enabling users to control media directly from the lock screen. In addition, the Control Centre has been redesigned with customizable tiles for a more tailored experience.
OriginOS 6 also introduces widget stacking on Vivo and iQOO devices, allowing users to layer multiple widgets in the same space to save room and make space for more apps and shortcuts.
Notification stacking in OriginOS 6 helps keep the notification panel organized and clutter-free. When multiple notifications arrive, the system automatically groups them in a clean and visually appealing way.

OriginOS 6 has also made significant improvements in cross-ecosystem connectivity. With this update, Vivo and iQOO devices can now seamlessly integrate with Apple products. Users can use their iPad as a secondary display, sync notes, and share photos effortlessly between devices.
The update also introduces enhanced AI features. The new OS includes Object Eraser for Live Photos, allowing users to remove unwanted objects, people, animals, or vehicles from their photos. Additionally, it offers an AI-powered image editor that can improve resolution, remove elements, and even convert images into PDF format.

Vivo is also introducing active frame generation, which allows users to remove and restore edited motion frames. Other AI enhancements include AI voice prompts, an AI assistant, AI-generated summaries, and Circle to Search 2.0.
OriginOS 6 will initially be available on the Vivo X200 series, iQOO 13, and other devices in November 2025. Supported devices such as the Vivo X Fold 3, iQOO 12, and others will begin receiving the update from December 2025, with the full rollout continuing into early 2026.
The upcoming Vivo X300 series will be the first devices to come preloaded with OriginOS 6 on Android 16, with the series set to launch in China on October 13, 2025.
BlueOS 3 for smartwatches has also been announced, expanding Vivo’s software ecosystem.
Alongside OriginOS 6, Vivo has unveiled BlueOS 3 for its smartwatches. The new OS will debut on the Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 series through a public beta starting November 3, 2025.
BlueOS 3 offers up to 33 days of battery life on the Vivo Watch GT 2, introduces new always-on display watch faces, smoother animations, personalized app recommendations, and a new Blue Heart V calling feature.
