After much anticipation, OnePlus has unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus Nord CE 4, in India, and there’s much to appreciate about the device. Renowned for its value-for-money offerings without compromising on specifications, the Nord series continues this trend with the Nord CE 4. Here’s a detailed look at what the phone has to offer:
OnePlus Nord CE 4 Build and Display
The back of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 boasts a pill-shaped island housing three cameras, each with border rings, while the volume and power buttons are situated on the right edge.
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 boasts a 10-bit 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED FHD+ panel, with OnePlus claiming a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio and HDR10+ certification. Featuring a flat display with a slight bottom chin, the phone presents a standard look from the front. Additionally, it holds an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Performance and Battery
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the Nord CE 4 is available in two variants: 8/128GB and 8/256GB. The device offers UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR4X RAM. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is expected to perform admirably, it may fall short of its more powerful counterpart, the 7+ Gen 3, as seen in the Nord 4. For a more detailed comparison, refer to our analysis of the 7 Gen 3, 7+ Gen 3, and 7+ Gen 2 processors.
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 should handle day-to-day tasks smoothly, but it’s not designed to be a top-tier gaming device. Equipped with a dual-cell 5,500mAh battery, the Nord CE 4 supports 100W charging. However, it does not include wireless charging capabilities.
OnePlus Nord CE 4: Cameras
For photography, the phone offers a dual-camera setup with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 1/1.92″ sensor featuring OIS as the primary shooter, accompanied by an 8MP IMX355 secondary camera. The front-facing camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels.
Network, Connectivity, and Updates
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is 5G-ready and compatible with all major bands. It features Bluetooth 5.4 support and is dual SIM. However, its USB Type-C port is limited to USB 2.0 specifications, so faster transfer speeds and display output should not be expected. Additionally, the phone does not support Wi-Fi 6, only 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.
OnePlus has committed to providing two major Android updates and an additional year of security patches for the Nord CE 4, which is commendable for a mid-range device. The device operates on OxygenOS 14, which is based on the latest Android 14 version.
OnePlus Nord CE 4: Price and Availability
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is available in two storage configurations: 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB, both using UFS 3.1 storage technology. It comes in two colors: Dark Chrome and Celadon Marble.
The base variant, 8GB+128GB, is priced at Rs 24,999, while the higher variant, 8GB+256GB, is priced at Rs 26,999 in Ifnia. This pricing makes the Nord CE 4 slightly more affordable than its predecessor, the Nord CE 3.
The phone will be available for sale starting April 4, 2024. Customers who purchase the Nord CE 4 during the initial sale period will receive a free pair of Nord Buds 2r earphones. Additionally, orders placed from April 5 onwards will be eligible for a Rs 1,500 instant bank discount.
