NVIDIA’s Budget-Friendly RTX 3050 Set for February 2024 Launch

NVIDIA has plans for an upcoming GPU, not from the RTX 40 Series but a new addition to the RTX 30 Series lineup. The RTX 3050 has garnered significant interest among users seeking an entry-level graphics card, both for laptops and desktops. Recent leaks suggest a revised version of the RTX 3050 with an adjusted VRAM capacity is set for an imminent release.

As reported by WCCFTech, NVIDIA is preparing to launch an RTX 3050 graphics card equipped with 6GB VRAM in February 2024. Alongside this, Nvidia has additional product launches slated for early 2024, notably the anticipated RTX 40 ‘Super’ refresh lineup, expected to debut at CES 2024.

The current desktop RTX 3050 comes with 8GB of VRAM, retailing at $219.99 as of now. However, according to leaks, the anticipated RTX 3050 with 6GB VRAM might debut at a lower price point of $179. This would represent approximately a 22% cheaper, about $40 less, compared to the 8GB variant.

It’s crucial to note that these figures are subject to change as the launch approaches. Additionally, Nvidia hasn’t confirmed the development of this GPU yet. Previous leaks suggest potential alterations beyond the VRAM, including adjustments in CUDA Core Count and memory bus width for the 6GB version.

NVIDIA Wants More Gamers on RTX

The prospect of an RTX 3050 priced below $200 could potentially drive a shift in the GPU market, enticing gamers to opt for RTX over the older GTX series. Currently, the Steam Survey highlights the GTX 1650 as the second most popular GPU among Steam users, with the RTX 3060 reigning at the top.

The introduction of a 6GB VRAM variant of the RTX 3050 at this price point narrows the price gap between entry-level RTX cards and previous-generation GTX models. This could lead to increased adoption of RTX GPUs, attracting more users to upgrade.

As for personal preference, the decision to choose the new RTX 3050 over the GTX 1650 might depend on various factors like performance, features, and cost-effectiveness. Would you consider purchasing the RTX 3050 with 6GB VRAM over the GTX 1650? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
