One of the main reasons I’ve stuck with Spotify despite disliking its algorithm is its seamless cross-app compatibility. Recently, Instagram introduced the ability to add songs from Reels directly to a Spotify playlist. Now, WhatsApp is taking it a step further by making it easier to share your favorite Spotify tracks on your status.
According to WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta (version 2.25.8.3 for Android) allows users to share songs directly from Spotify to their status updates. When sharing a track on Spotify, a new “Status” option will appear. Selecting it will generate a preview displaying the song name, artist, and album.

You should also see a “Play on Spotify” option above the preview, allowing you to jump straight to Spotify and play the shared track. This works just like Spotify song previews on Instagram Stories, suggesting that WhatsApp is aiming to bring a similar experience to its platform.
Meta has been actively bridging the gap between Instagram and WhatsApp by introducing features from the popular photo-sharing app, such as photo stickers, the ability to add songs to status updates, and even usernames.
This new update seems to be another step in that direction. However, the feature is still in beta and currently available to a limited number of users. Hopefully, WhatsApp will roll it out more widely in the coming weeks. What are your thoughts on this new update? Let us know in the comments!
