Nothing recently initiated the rollout of the stable version of Nothing OS 2.5, built on Android 14, for the Phone (2) following its beta release in October. Meanwhile, the open beta for Nothing OS 2.5 on the Phone (1) is slated for release soon.
This update marks a significant advancement since the launch of Nothing OS 2.0 a few months back, introducing a range of new features. Among these additions are revamped customizations for both home and lock screens, featuring new solid color wallpapers and an enhanced edit flow for easier access to editing options. Additionally, Nothing has introduced a fresh monochrome color theme and new wallpaper effects named Glass and Atmosphere. Users will also benefit from a revamped screenshot editor and menu within the update.
Within the Glyph Interface, Nothing OS 2.5 introduces various enhancements. The Glyph timer now allows users to open the Glyph Timer popup with a tap rather than a prolonged hold. Notably, when NFC is active, a new Glyph animation accompanies its usage, and improvements have been made to the Flip to Glyph feature. Furthermore, Nothing has integrated Glyph Progress into Google Calendar.
The update also brings in new gestures, including a three-swipe gesture for capturing screenshots and a double-press of the power button to access a user-chosen feature (accessible via Settings -> System -> Gestures). Additionally, Nothing OS 2.5 enhances the lock screen with additional shortcut options such as Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
The latest stable release of Nothing OS 2.5 introduces new widgets for the pedometer, media player, and screen time, enhancing user interaction. The Weather app has undergone improvements, and users can expect new features such as the back gesture arrow, in line with Android 14’s offerings. Additionally, updated Quick Settings and overall system enhancements contribute to better performance.
Android 14 functionalities like the photo picker and app cloning are part of the update, further enhancing the user experience. The rollout of Nothing OS 2.5 to Phone (2) users has commenced and is expected to reach all devices shortly. Users can check for the update availability in their software settings. For those who’ve received it, sharing your Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 experience in the comments would be greatly appreciated.
