Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase Slated for This Week

As Xbox and PlayStation recently concluded their first showcases of the year, many were left wondering about the absence of a Nintendo Direct Partner event. With the Nintendo Switch 2 facing a delay of nearly a year, there’s anticipation for more games for the popular handheld. However, Nintendo has now announced a Direct showcase, and it’s closer than you might expect.

Nintendo has announced a Direct Partner Showcase scheduled for 21st February 2024 at 6:00 am PT, set to run for approximately 25 minutes. During this showcase, third-party developers and publishers will unveil upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch. According to the official announcement, these games are slated for release in the first half of 2024.

It’s important to note that since this is a Partner Showcase, we may not see significant first-party Nintendo titles. However, it’s likely that we’ll see notable third-party titles receiving Switch ports.

Looking at the track records of previous Nintendo Partner Showcases, we can anticipate some exciting launches. For example, the Batman Trilogy was announced last year. It’s also worth noting that Nintendo typically hosts two streams for their Direct showcases.

One stream is in English on their American YouTube channel, while the other is in Japanese on their Japanese YouTube channel. Nintendo sometimes exclusively announces Japanese-developed games on the latter channel, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on both.

Additionally, with Xbox confirming that four first-party titles will go multi-platform, we might expect at least one of these games to be announced tomorrow. Multiple sources have indicated that Hi-Fi Rush will launch on the Nintendo Switch, so an official announcement tomorrow wouldn’t be surprising. This Direct Partner Showcase seems like the perfect event for such an announcement.

What games are you looking forward to? Is there anything specific that others should keep an eye out for? Let us know in the comments below!
