We recently tested Perplexity’s AI assistant on iPhones and compared it with Siri. Now, it turns out that Perplexity has teamed up with an official smartphone partner to highlight its AI search engine capabilities and it’s none other than Motorola.

In a recent post on X, Perplexity announced its partnership with the Chinese phone maker, along with a detailed blog post. The company stated, “Starting with the new generation of Motorola devices, Perplexity will be pre-installed on millions of smartphones worldwide, giving Motorola users direct access to our answer engine and assistant.

Perplexity will be integrated into Moto AI’s suite of features, with Motorola’s flagship Razr devices being the first to benefit from the experience. This partnership brings deeper AI integration, allowing users to access the Perplexity assistant directly from the cover screen, even when the phone is closed.

Users will be able to perform tasks like sending emails, setting smart reminders, playing media, requesting rides, and booking restaurant reservations. Additionally, owners of the new Moto Razr and Edge 60 will receive a 3-month free subscription to Perplexity Pro.

This move appears to follow OpenAI’s partnership with Apple and Gemini’s integration into Samsung Galaxy devices. However, it’s not the first time Perplexity Pro has been bundled with a smartphone last year, buyers of the Nothing Phone (2a) were also offered a free one-year subscription.
