Motorola had an impressive previous year, introducing a range of exciting devices to its lineup. Among the standout launches in India was the Moto Edge 40, which garnered high praise from users. Now, Motorola has unveiled the latest addition to the Edge series: the Moto Edge 50 Pro, offering a host of new features and enhancements.
Moto Edge 50 Pro: Specs
The design of the Edge 50 Pro is reminiscent of classic Motorola phones, with a metal frame and a back covered in a silicon vegan leather finish. The camera module seamlessly integrates into the back, curving from the sides to provide a comfortable grip.
Located on the right side are both the power and volume buttons, and the phone weighs 186 grams. It boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, with the display protected by Lenovo’s ThinkShield technology.
The Edge 50 Pro features a groundbreaking 6.7-inch, 10-bit, 1.5K 144Hz pOLED curved display, a claim to fame as Moto asserts it to be the world’s first of its kind. With HDR10+ certification and peak brightness levels of 2,000 nits, this display ensures a stunning visual experience. Additionally, it incorporates DC dimming and PWM optimization of 720Hz to reduce eye strain.
Powering the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which is also utilized in the recently released OnePlus Nord CE 4 (review) and Vivo V30. While it outperforms the Dimensity 7200 (Pro or Ultra) found in the Nothing Phone 2a (review) and is comparable to the Dimensity 8200, it falls slightly behind its more powerful counterpart, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.
The phone offers up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage and up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Its 4,500 mAh battery supports 125W charging, but note that the 125W power adapter is only included with the higher-end 12GB + 256GB variant; the 8GB + 256GB unit comes with a 68W charger.
On the rear, the phone boasts a triple camera setup, including an f/1.4 50 MP primary camera with OIS, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom, and a 13 MP ultrawide/macro camera. The front camera is an f/1.9 50 MP shooter with autofocus.
For connectivity, the phone supports most important 5G and LTE bands, along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. It comes with Hello UI based on Android 14, with Motorola promising three OS updates and four years of security patches. The phone also features a USB Type-C port, surprisingly supporting USB 3.1 and capable of video output to larger screens thanks to DisplayPort 1.4 support.
